SUMMARY:
Client in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the services of a Vice President Supply Chain at their plant in the West Rand as soon as possible

POSITION INFO:

The appointee should:

  • NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) in Finance or Supply Chain Management.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a related role, of which 5 years should have been at a senior management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Clear credit record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

  • MBA would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a Mining environment would be advantageous

Key responsibilities:

  • Exercise effective strategic leadership on the supply chain discipline by being able to operationalize the vision and mission of the organization into realistic and challenging operational plans with sound and visible controls.
  • Provide the leadership, management and vision required to ensure that the supply chain discipline has the proper operational controls, administrative, procedures, people and systems in place to effectively meet the strategic objectives of the organization and to ensure financial strength.
  • Provide strategic direction for the supply chain discipline to meet short to medium term business requirements.
  • Assist in formulating the discipline’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Ensure a proper negotiation strategy including benchmarking to achieve reasonable prices.
  • Prepare, approve and implement the annual budget for the company regarding the Procurement and Supply Chain area.
  • Ensure inventories of all commodities, mining equipment and consumables and final products as per budget norms for uninterrupted production.
  • Plan, direct, manage and control all input materials and services (Procurement, warehousing and the integrated logistics supply chain) to ensure uninterrupted business operation.
  • Ensure achievement of service levels with internal customers, supported by continuous business
  • Ensure generation of all relevant weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
  • Develop an audit plan and implement audit findings resulting in no unresolved audit findings.
  • Control all contract management activities effectively.
  • Involve in negotiations with suppliers and/or contractors as required.
  • Engage with stakeholder regarding all internal and external customers/suppliers and feedback regarding Supply Chain and BBBEE activities to address concerns.
  • Drive timely conclusion of budgeted Capex projects.
  • Provide guidance for efficient warehouse management.
  • Design and implement savings and business improvement opportunities for the organisation in alignment to strategic plans.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigating plans.
  • Direct the Property portfolio of Family and Single accommodation in accordance to customer satisfaction index, improvement opportunities and strategic objectives.
  • Manage the BBBEE strategic pillars for Enterprise and Supplier development in collaboration with the organisational transformation strategic plans and agreed deliverables.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of strategic relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally (incl. regulatory bodies) at all levels and cross-functionally to meet business objective
  • Ensure open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction at resolving most key issues
  • Develop and manage customer, supplier, enterprises and government relationships to meet business objectives
  • Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
  • Liaise with a range of customers/suppliers, government, journalists and business regarding key issues.
  • Manage and attend to a range of media reports at government and internal level.
  • Handle and attend to a range of supplier queries to build the company brand at local level.
  • Manage the supplier perceptions of Company.
