Welding Specialist - Port Elizabeth

Requirements

• N6 with Trade and/or Ndip Mechnical/Electrical/Mechatronics and/or equivalent
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in Robotic Welding & GMAW Technologies
• Motoman/ABB Robotic programming
• SKS Training Modules: Basic Principles, Process, Welding Technology
• Basic Metallurgy
• Basic PLC or Schmersal Safety PLC

Duties and Responsibilities

1.  Participate to new Program Launches or New Part Introduction (NPI) within Clean Air division:

• Technical support for Launch
• Support for development and feasibility review regarding:

• • Design of product
  • Design of equipment und manufacturing process welding process and welding accessibilities.
  • Process simulation via virtual 3D or production tryout

• Develop robot programs according to specifications (Cycle time, quality, variant, sequencing requirements).
• Creation of fixtures clamping programs on different machine controllers (Soft SPS, ATS etc).
• Develop welding programs and setup welding parameters according to specifications on different welding technic (Q8 SKS etc).
• Setting-up and launch processes, fixtures and machineries

• • Fine tuning of fixtures based on measurement report.
  • Optimize process and fixtures accordingly to invest, tooling list and efficiency target.
  • Support first start up production.
  • Troubleshooting on production issues.

• Support process optimization effort in close collaboration with the local plant team, launch team, AME and CCT within the company.
• Identify actively and implement manufacturing process improvement.
• Support equipment and fixtures reception at Supplier or company facilities in close collaboration with the different responsible departments.
• Operate launch services equipment:

• • Robot, leak tester, COA, manual welding equipment, …etc
    
    • Review existing programmation
    • Production tryout and mini batches
    • Quality validation
    • Error proofing
  • Welding cut labor equipment
    
    • Preparation, creation and evaluation of welding cut.
    • Establish documentations

    • Manual MAG and TIG welding
    • TPM implementation and documentation

    • Preparation, performing and analysis of the weld cuts

2.  Dispatch training within company:

• Develop training materials and conduct internal training within the company. For example:

• • Robot programming
  • Fixtures programming
  • Welding parameter setting
  • Welding Quality Inspection …etc

• Knowledge sharing of “Best Practices”; process standardization.
