Workshop Technician (Engineering) – 6-Month Temp Assignment

SUMMARY:
We are urgently looking for a hands-on and reliable Workshop Technician to join our client’s team on a 6-month fixed-term assignment, ideal for someone who can start immediately. The ideal candidate should reside within the East Rand area, possess strong mechanical aptitude, and have proven experience working with pumps. This role involves performing mechanical repairs, routine maintenance, and overhauls on a variety of industrial equipment in a busy workshop environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble various pump types
• Perform general workshop duties including fitting, turning, cleaning, and mechanical assembly.
• Conduct fault diagnosis and root cause analysis on malfunctioning equipment.
• Adhere to quality and safety procedures while working with precision tools and machinery.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance work, and parts used.
• Liaise with supervisors regarding work status, timelines, and any issues identified.
• Ensure the workshop area is kept clean, organised, and in compliance with health and safety standards.

• Matric
• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting / Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working on industrial pumps in a workshop environment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy parts and perform manual labour.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Available to commit to a 6-month temporary assignment.
