Most businesses are looking for workers who have degrees or trade qualifications in engineering or manufacturing. A workshop manager also needs to be able to communicate effectively, have  already gained some management experience, and be comfortable with  enough computer programs and functions to manage the workshop. It is important to gain as much experience and specialist training as possible in ones chosen trade.

Workshop managers need a college diploma and/or vocational training and years of experience. Workshop managers supervise other employees, help handle difficult problems or production challenges, and coordinate with clients and top management, therefore adaptability is key.

Avoid positions of authority if you are easily offended or hurt by the opinions of others who report to you.
