SUMMARY:
The AI Engineer designs, develops, and supports advanced AI solutions that enhance voice and digital customer engagement. The role focuses on delivering production-ready AI voice and chatbots, AI-driven quality assurance tools, and innovative NLP/NLU solutions, including support for underrepresented African languages.
Working closely with business and technical teams, the successful candidate will apply Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, and speech technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and customer-focused solutions, while promoting responsible and ethical AI practices.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver AI strategies aligned to business objectives across voice and digital customer engagement.
Design, build, and deploy AI solutions including Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, speech technologies, voice/chat bots, and AI-driven QA systems, with optimisation for African languages.
Research emerging AI technologies and drive innovation through experimentation and industry collaboration.
Design scalable, secure AI models and integrate solutions into existing systems via APIs and modern architectures.
Analyse large datasets to generate insights and support data-driven decision making.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into practical AI solutions.
Ensure strong data privacy, governance, and responsible AI practices.
Drive continuous improvement, best practices, user training, and adoption of AI technologies.

Job Experience and skill required

Honours degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics or related field
Masters degree preferred.
Certificates in AI/ML platforms (Advantage)
5 years of experience in AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, NLP or a related field
Strong practical experience with AI voice and text bots
Hands-on experience building AI chatbots using LLMs or conversational AI frameworks.
Proven experience with Generative AI, NLP, Voicebots, TTS, STT, LLMs, and API integration.
