Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced Accountant to join their retail business based in the beautiful Southern Drakensberg. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for someone who thrives on managing complex financial operations while leading and coordinating a busy office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Manage accounting processes, prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with department heads to align financial strategies and manage financial risk.
- Supervise and guide a large admin team to ensure systems are implemented and maintained.
- Take ownership of reporting to group owners for multiple stores and properties.
- Identify and resolve inaccuracies or issues raised by junior staff/ability to train junior staff.
- Review stock, cash, and other systems to identify weaknesses and implement improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date processes and rectify shortcomings timeously.
- Control all documentation (financial, legal, HR) across all entities.
- Prepare and submit VAT and PAYE submissions to SARS.
- Manage payroll processes and ensure correct tax implications for staff.
- Review and balance inter-company loan accounts.
- Extract and interpret key financial information for decision-making.
- Train and mentor junior staff as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proven skills in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Experience managing accounting processes and preparing financial statements.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and inventory controls.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems (experience with Sigma and Easy Accounts advantageous but not essential).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to reside in the Southern Drakensberg region
