Duties:

Financial Reporting & Month-End

• Prepare monthly flash reports and management accounts.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of balance sheet reconciliations within deadlines.
• Compile month-end files for reporting and audit purposes.
• Analyse business unit performance against forecast and budget.
• Provide insights into financial performance drivers and corrective actions.
• Maintain and update Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Analyse utilisation dashboards and investigate material variances.
• Review project profitability with Project Managers.
• Coordinate in-month review data from operational stakeholders.

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and financial processes.
• Determine revenue and expenditure recognition.
• Perform monthly revenue forecasting and analysis.
• Produce weekly and monthly revenue reports.
• Oversee financial transactions and invoice processing.
• Perform accounts receivable and payable reconciliations.
• Ensure alignment of costs to revenue.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Review accounting controls and report deviations.
• Supervise and guide the Bookkeeper.

• Perform weekly follow-ups on outstanding debtors.
• Ensure accurate invoicing and minimise credit notes.
• Conduct debtor reconciliations and age analysis.
• Maintain regular client engagement to ensure timely collections.

• Perform monthly VAT reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and legislation.
• Maintain adherence to company policies and procedures.

• Monitor quarterly stock and fixed asset counts.
• Facilitate stock and asset verification processes.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and controls.

• Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Support financial modelling for project bids.

• Ensure integrity and accuracy of project/job databases.
• Review database reports weekly and highlight risks.
• Resolve issues relating to purchase orders, scope changes, and job records.
• Monitor overdue and outstanding operational matters.

• Analyse project costs and ensure correct allocations.
• Maintain and review cost-to-complete tools weekly.
• Develop project financial projections with Project Managers.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets.
• Identify scope creep and variation orders.
• Conduct variance analysis and report business drivers.

• Assist with financial audits.
• Implement audit recommendations and improvements.

• Support HR policies and team development initiatives.
• Coach and mentor junior staff.

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Degree or relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce (advantageous).
• Additional financial or accounting academic qualifications beneficial.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Accountant.
• Experience within large or complex organisational environments.
• Strong exposure to project accounting environments.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with VAT, provisional tax, and reconciliations.
• Experience managing sundry debtors.
• Exposure to cost of manufacturing calculations (advantageous).
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff preferred.
• Strong experience working with financial systems and operational finance processes.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and basic IFRS.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with financial systems (e.g., MS Dynamics AX or similar).
