The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations while playing a key role in modernising processes and helping shape the future of finance within the business. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Month-End Processes Manage day-to-day accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records. Prepare monthly reconciliations and support month-end close processes. Process accruals, prepayments, and other month-end journal entries. Review and validate financial transactions to ensure accurate coding and classification. Investigate and resolve accounting variances and discrepancies. Maintain complete and accurate audit trails and supporting documentation. Loan Management System Accounting Oversee accounting activities relating to the Loan Management System (LMS). Reconcile loan portfolio activity to accounting records and bank accounts. Review loan transactions, repayments, interest calculations, fees, and related activity. Identify and resolve discrepancies between loan system data and financial records. Assist with monthly reporting and reconciliation of the loan portfolio. Enhance and automate loan accounting processes where possible. Accounts Payable & Supplier Management Manage the accounts payable process from invoice receipt through to payment. Review supplier invoices for accuracy, coding, and supporting documentation. Maintain supplier records and reconciliations. Assist with payment runs and supplier query resolution. Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounts payable processes. Automation & Process Improvement Utilise AI and automation tools to improve finance workflows and reporting. Develop automated reconciliation and review processes. Reduce manual intervention through workflow optimisation and system enhancements. Create exception-based reporting and control mechanisms. Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve existing finance processes. Document scalable processes that support future business growth. Financial Reporting & Analysis Assist with management reporting and financial analysis. Generate meaningful insights from financial and operational data. Support decision-making through accurate and timely reporting. Contribute to process improvements that enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy. Requirements Qualifications Accounting Degree or related financial qualification. Experience Minimum 3 years' relevant accounting experience. Strong experience with monthly accounting processes and reconciliations. Accounts payable experience is essential. Exposure to financial services or loan management environments will be advantageous. Experience working with high-volume transactional data is beneficial. Technical Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel and\/or Google Sheets skills. Experience working with accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Interest in automation, AI, and finance technology. Confidence learning and implementing new systems and digital tools.
