POSITION INFO:
Afrikaans Admitted Attorney (Litigation/commercial/ corporate and family law), Mbombela, RNeg
- LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized South African university.
- Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- 2–3 years post-admission experience, preferably in litigation, commercial, corporate, and family law.
- Afrikaans Home Language
- Experience drafting court documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Knowledge of South African corporate, commercial, and family law legislation.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Exceptional client management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, LexisNexis, Juta).
Litigation:
- Draft and review pleadings, affidavits, notices, and other court documents.
- Prepare and manage case files for hearings and trials.
- Represent clients in court, including motion proceedings, trials, and urgent applications.
- Liaise with counsel, clients, and opposing attorneys.
- Advise clients on litigation strategy and potential risks.
Commercial / Corporate Law:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding.
- Advise clients on company law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring matters.
- Conduct due diligence and provide reports on commercial transactions.
Family Law:
- Draft and manage agreements, including antenuptial contracts, settlement agreements, and divorce documentation.
- Represent clients in family law matters such as divorces, maintenance disputes, and custody issues.
- Provide strategic advice on family-related legal matters.
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and matter records.
- Attend client meetings, hearings, and negotiations as required.
- Assist senior attorneys with complex cases and matters.
- Keep abreast of legal developments in relevant areas of law.
