JOB SUMMARY:
Client based in JHB seeks the services of Public Policy Manager,

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:

1. Identify, monitor, and analyse current and emerging public policy issues affecting WhatsApp in the AMET region
2. Identify proactive strategies to solve policy challenges to advance WhatsApp's policy goals
3. Engage with policymakers, government officials, industry partners, thought leaders, and civil society groups
4. Design and lead innovative regional programs and campaigns to shape the public and political climate of opinion around WhatsApp and the issues it cares about
5. Work with the global team to develop WhatsApp policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings on key issues, including encryption, privacy, integrity, safety, economic development, and e-commerce
6. Advise WhatsApp teams on regional public policy matters to guide the development of products, services, and policies
7. Represent WhatsApp at public events in the region.

Minimum Qualifications

Significant work experience in Public Policy, including experience managing strategic outreach with diverse stakeholders within policy advocacy or in a government position.
2. Degree or advanced degree in policy, law, international affairs, or any other related field.
3. Keen understanding of, and interest in, public policies related to technology, privacy, and safety.
4. Strong understanding of the regional, political landscape, and policy issues in the AMET region
5. Experience working in one or more African countries
6. Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
7. Experience executing cross-functional campaigns.
8. Strong teamwork experience and proven track record of a collaborative approach to problem-solving
9. Willingness to roll up sleeves and do any task required to get the job done
10. Strong attention to detail
11. Good judgment, comfortable with ambiguity, and the ability to have a sense of humor under
