SUMMARY:
A leader in the Agricultural industry is seeking an experienced Agronomist to assist in managing agents as well as providing technical support to farmers and agents in the field.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Must have a B.Sc. Agric Degree in Horticulture, Soil Science, Agronomy, Plan Production.
- Must be SACNASP registered
- An AVCASA in Crop Protection and BASOS/FERTASA Certification would be of great advantage
- 5 to 10 years’ technical experience in the agricultural industry will be required
- Must have previous experience in dealing with agents and farmers
- Knowledge of small grains and permanent crops will be advantageous
- Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be willing to travel
The successful candidate will be responsible for:- Assisting the Regional Managers to execute the company’s technical marketing strategy/plan and company objectives in Western Cape.
- Conducting field trails and making technical recommendations to agents and farmers.
- Managing the development of new products and expansion of current products by monitoring and giving accurate feedback on local field and market conditions.
- Building strong relationships with sales agents, prominent producers and relevant industry bodies.
- Managing the marketing of the company’s range of Agricultural products to farmers and agents in the designated area.
- Assisting with the development of marketing strategies to ensure continued growth of the products in the designated areas.
- Providing regular communication with the Managing Director and Technical Department before product meetings about product development and demonstration.
- Coordinating the introduction and launch of new products in the area.
- Planning and executing key projects.
- Assisting Management with co-ordinating and facilitating product training sessions with relevant individuals, study groups, agents and dealers.
- Serving as primary contact and source of sound, practical and reliable agronomic information in order to provide opportunities for the company and its customers.
