Analytics Team Lead - Cape Town (perm or contract)

SUMMARY:
Seeking an Analytics Team Lead with a BCom/ BSc or relevant tertiary qualification plus 3-5 years experience in Business and Data analysis, Solutions design & Testing, Data modeling, for a permanent or contract position with a large retail company in Cape Town.

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose

• Work closely with leaders across Marketing, Buying and other business department to support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions.
• Lead cross-functional teams using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.

 Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
• Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve team performance and measurement in the future.
• Define the data elements and data structure that teams should leverage to enable analytical and reporting capabilities for our business development team.
• Design and influence operational best practices for reporting and analytics to enable the team to scale.
• Prepare and deliver business reviews to the management team regarding progress and roadblocks.
• Work with engineering and the data warehouse to enable the appropriate capture and storage of key data points.
• Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format.
• Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions.

 Requirements

Qualifications

BCom/ BSc or relevant tertiary qualification.

Experience

• 3-5 years experience in Business and Data analysis, Solutions design & Testing, Data modeling.
• 3 years experience in leading a high performance team.

Technical Skills

• High level knowledge of appropriate statistical techniques.
• Fluency in a programming language (R, Python, SQL).
• Experience with common data science toolkits , such as R, SAS, Alteryx, Knime etc.
• Experience with data visualization tools.

Competencies

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Executive level stakeholder management experience.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
