POSITION INFO:

Our client an investment holding company, with head offices in Stellenbosch, is looking for an Application Services Manager in their Technology and Information (T&I) division.

The Application Services Manager manages the end-to-end delivery for cross-functional applications and oversees the support of applications across the company.

Whilst the responsibility for individual functional applications remains with the system owners within the respective business units, this role focuses on cross-functional applications and collaborates with multiple teams and stakeholders across the business units to drive the development of the application services standards, roadmap, and compliance requirements.

The cross-functional aspect of this role promotes collaboration and considers the impact of application decisions on organisation transformation aligned with business goals, delivered efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge and Experience

• Technical qualification, diploma, or degree
• Minimum of 8 years work experience in a relevant information technology environment with a similar scope of responsibilities.
• In-depth understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Knowledge of application architecture, databases, and cloud computing.
• Knowledge of application integration, APIs, and data exchange protocols.
• Understanding of software deployment methodologies, testing and quality assurance
• Understanding of information architectures, structures, and taxonomies.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices to ensure application security.

• Leadership that drives application best practice and compliance in a matrix organisational structure.
• Quick learner that grasps new concepts and technologies and apply good judgement about application innovations that would improve business process efficiency.
• Can work autonomously with a high level of integrity and trust, makes quality decisions in a timely manner and drive for results through self and others.
• Strong business acumen, team development and service orientation.
• Strong customer focus and effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including third-party management.
• Technical depth across multiple application and information management verticals.
• A solid understanding of data architecture and design principles to ensure deployment of new capabilities meets corporate standards and upholds the overall integrity and quality of the T&I application landscape.
• Strong project planning, prioritisation, and budgeting skills.
• Engagement with technologists and navigating the external environment to develop application roadmaps suitable to drive the organisation forward.
• Ability to direct application development resources and create a team environment to deliver through others in a matrix organisation structure.
• Working understanding of T&I best practice frameworks, e.g., Agile, ITIL, COBIT and NIST.
