Overview: The Automation Sales Specialist will drive sales and business development for automation and digital mining solutions. The role involves identifying opportunities, engaging mining customers and recommending tailored technologies that improve productivity, safety and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will manage the sales cycle from prospecting through contract signing and ongoing customer support. Responsibilities: • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in mine automation and digital transformation. • Develop and maintain relationships with mining customers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and technology partners. • Prepare and deliver product presentations, proposals and quotations. • Negotiate contracts and close sales in line with agreed targets. • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and opportunity qualification to contract signing and post-sales support. • Understand and promote automation technologies such as remote operations, fleet management systems and machine guidance. • Work with technical colleagues to develop solutions tailored to customer requirements. • Keep up to date with developments in mining automation, robotics and digital systems. • Provide after-sales support and help maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. • Maintain accurate customer and sales records using CRM tools. • Conduct site visits and product demonstrations at mining operations. • Research market developments and competitors to identify growth opportunities. • Contribute to sales strategies and marketing plans. • Provide feedback to relevant internal teams on customer needs and technology performance. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. • 3–5 years’ experience in mining technology sales, automation systems or industrial equipment sales. • Knowledge of mine operations, automation systems, digital mining solutions or SCADA\/PLC systems. • Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets. • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote sites. • Professional English communication skills. • Must reside in South Africa. • Strong technical understanding of automation and control systems. • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills. • Commercial awareness, self-motivation and a results-driven approach. • Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
