Automotive Accountant - OEM Level - Gauteng, Bryanston

Purpose Of The Job:
 
Our client is an exciting new automotive brand establishing its head office operations and building the business from the ground up. This role is suited to an enthusiastic, committed professional who is eager to be part of a long-term journey, contribute to shaping processes and culture, and play a key role in developing and growing the department from its early stages. The Accountant will be responsible for managing full financial accounting functions at OEM level, ensuring IFRS compliance, statutory accuracy, and the integrity of financial information. This role plays a key part in supporting strategic, operational, and executive decision-making during a high-growth phase of the business.
The ideal candidate will be detail-driven, hands-on, and committed to being part of a long-term journey, contributing to the establishment of sound financial processes, controls, and reporting structures.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain the full general ledger, including journals, accruals, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts with supporting schedules
• Perform variance analysis against budget and prior periods, providing meaningful commentary to management
• Ensure all financial records comply with IFRS standards and OEM group reporting requirements

• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, provisional tax, and income tax returns
• Ensure compliance with all South African statutory and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with SARS, auditors, and external advisors when required

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and reporting
• Ensure timely processing of payments and collections in line with company policies

• Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation accurately
• Assist in developing and enforcing strong internal financial controls
• Support risk management and governance processes

• Assist with annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
• Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring clean audit outcomes
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit queries

• BCom Accounting / Finance or equivalent qualification (essential)
• Minimum 3–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably within an OEM, automotive environment
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Experience working in a head office or group reporting environment advantageous
• Motor Industry experience ESSENTIAL!!
