SUMMARY:
Caledon Area – Western Cape: Our client is looking for a Broiler Farm Manager to join the team.
Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum - Diploma in Animal Production or a BSc Agric Animal Science.
Experience: 5 years in Poultry Farming/ Farm Management will be an advantage but not essential.
Knowledge of broiler growing and management: Animal Welfare, Stockman ship, Chick Management, Provision of Feed and Water, Broiler nutrition, Health and Biosecurity, Housing and Environment, monitoring live weight and Uniformity of Performance, Pre-processing Management will be an advantage.
Computer skill (Microsoft Office).
Excellent verbal, writing and communication skills.
Leadership and management skills.
Basic health & safety background and mechanical insights.
Rational planning & organizing.
Driver’s license; Code 10; Tractor/ Digger.
Must be willing to work early shifts, overtime, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Manage and farm at the company’s Farm.
Grow free range chicken according to Free Range Code of Practice.
Manage workers according to company codes, Health and Safety Standards, HR procedures and Policies.
Lead farm team to perform to the best of their ability.
Manage comapny budget and expenses.
Execute CAPEX projects and farm trials.
Report monthly to Company Holdings on financial performance of the farm.
Manage external service providers: Shavings; Chick supply; Vaccines; Cleaning; Pest Control; Chemical supply; Waste removal; Borehole water supply and quality.
Site maintenance including chicken houses, roads, and surroundings.
Manage and lead all emergency responses on farm (aid to surrounding farms).
Form part and integrate with local farming community.
Report performance data daily on group database.
Form part of the Grower Manager team supplying to Elgin Free Range Chickens
