POSITION INFO:

JOB SUMMARY: My Client is in search of a suitably qualified and experienced individual to assume the above-mentioned role within their organisation. Key Performance Areas will include: -

 

Business Development

  • Develop symmetric partnerships with potential new clients, design innovative distribution and product solutions, prepare and conduct presentations
  • Cultivate relationships with existing clients
  • Liaise with the Pricing unit to ensure that all pricing for new business meets internal profitability standards and produce quotations in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the Legal unit to ensure all due diligence and other legal requirements are met
  • Conclude all treaties consistent with internal standards
  • Ensure that treaty records, pricing reports and treaty summaries are produced for all new treaties and that all relevant units are notified of developments
  • Engage with international colleagues as may be required

Business Management

  • Ensure that client accounts are up-to-date and accurate
  • Liaise with the Technical Account unit to ensure that outstanding accounts and data are followed up on a regular basis
  • Liaise with the Corporate Actuarial unit to regularly review treaties open for new business and to encode treaties accurately
  • Develop client reports and treaty summaries for all existing client treaties
  • Conclude all addenda to treaties as and when required and update records and keep relevant business units informed
  • Monitor performance at a treaty level in order to identify unprofitable treaties for further investigation
  • Expand the treaty review process in order to include detailed information on premium guarantee periods and in-force review dates to ensure that treaty reviews are done timeously where necessary

Training

  • Identify client training needs
  • Engage and present in internal and external training programmes
  • Liaise with various internal departments to provide training to be done on or off site on underwriting, claims, quotations and pricing of products

Reporting

  • Consolidate commentary pertaining the client’s performance for assigned clients to the Head of Business Acquisition & Development on a monthly basis
  • Collate information and provide input and commentary for assigned clients for Exco and quarterly board meetings as required

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and effectively delegate tasks and assist with prioritising tasks to meet unit objectives
  • Set realistic and measurable objectives aligned with unit strategy in the annual MbO document and review and rate objectives

 

REQUIREMENTS / CRITERIA

Essential

  • Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science
  • Good exam progress (at least with A series exams)
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience within a life insurance or reinsurance environment
  • Working knowledge of technical requirements

Preferred

  • Honours degree in Actuarial Science

Advantageous

  • Client management experience
  • Exposure to markets outside of South Africa
