Job Summary

The role of the Server & Backup Engineer II is to provide support for server and backup technologies. The role includes the installation and configurations of physical servers, Microsoft Windows Servers, Veeam backup/proxy servers and the management system namely N-able. The role also requires the day-to-day monitoring of server and backup environments. It also includes daily checks on other components such as storage arrays and network switches.

Qualifications / Experience

At least 4 yearsâ€™ experience in working with Windows Servers
Strong Back-up experienceÂ
Troubleshooting experience (problem-solving)
An IT certification required
VMWare entry-level certification
Veeam certification (preferable)
Experience with PowerPoint and Word

- Physical Server Cabling
- Physical Servers with VMware vSphere ESXi
- Physical Servers with Microsoft Windows Server
Windows Server Administration
- Windows Server Patching
- Windows Server Security updates
- Windows Server Patch Status Reporting
- Troubleshoot Errors
- Active Directory Configuration
- Remote Desktop Services Configuration
  - RD Gateways
  - Session Hosts
  - Session Brokers
Anti-Virus Administration
- Deployment across servers and desktops
- Management and regular updates
- Monitoring and troubleshooting errors
- Anti-Virus Reporting
System Monitoring
- Daily monitoring through the management system of system components
- Investigating Alerts
- Escalating Alerts where applicable
- Troubleshoot Errors
Management System Configuration
- Configuration of N-Able
  - Proxies
  - Agents
  - Overall configuration
- Management of N-able
Virtualisation
- Configuration of Virtual Machines
- Troubleshoot Errors
Backup Configuration
- Configuration of Veeam Backup Servers
- Configuration of Veeam Backup Proxies
- Configuration of backup Jobs
- Troubleshoot Errors
Backup Monitoring
- Daily monitoring of backups
- Investigating Alerts
- Escalating Alerts where applicable
- Backup Report Generation
- Troubleshoot Errors
- Ensure best practise is applied to configurations
Respond to customer tickets (email) within 30 minutes
Respond to customer telephone calls
Attend customer meetings/workshops
