SUMMARY:

Banking & Finance Associate Attorney

Kloof, KZN (potential for remote work depending on experience)
Working Hours: 09:30 – 17:30 (South African standard hours)
Reporting to: Head of Banking & Finance based in London
Environment: Private Practice supporting a Top 50 UK Law Firm
Salary: Market related / Depending on experience

Minimum Requirements:

LLB Degree
Admitted Attorney in South Africa
1–5 years’ post-admission experience within Banking & Finance Law
Must have solid Banking & Finance experience gained at a reputable law firm or financial institution
Strong exposure to LMA documentation is essential
Experience drafting and negotiating facility agreements, security documents, and finance-related agreements
Exposure to syndicated lending, trade finance, leveraged finance, or asset-based lending advantageous
Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
Ability to work within an international and fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and attention to detail

Duties and Responsibilities:

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating banking and finance documentation
Assisting with syndicated lending and cross-border transactions
Reviewing and negotiating security documentation
Assisting with trade finance and structured finance matters
Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions
Liaising with local and international clients
Supporting senior attorneys on complex finance transactions
Assisting with transaction management and deal execution
Ensuring compliance with banking and financial regulations

Key Skills:

Strong understanding of Banking & Finance transactions
Commercially minded with strong problem-solving abilities
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
