Branch Manager – Freight Forwarding

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and driven individual to take on the role of Branch Manager for a Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international forwarding (sea and airfreight – excluding customs clearing) with solid exposure to over-border traffic. This role is responsible for overseeing both the operational and sales functions of the branch and will play a key role in building strong relationships with local clients and global partners

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the Johannesburg branch, including international sea and airfreight forwarding activities.
• Manage and grow the sales function, actively pursuing new business opportunities in line with company goals.
• Negotiate competitive freight rates with shipping lines, airlines, and local transport providers.
• Ensure efficient and compliant cross-border freight operations.
• Maintain close working relationships with overseas agents and local clients.
• Represent the company professionally and confidently in client meetings and industry functions.
• Provide leadership and direction to the branch team, ensuring high performance and alignment with company standards.
• Travel as needed to meet with clients and partners domestically and internationally

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in international freight forwarding (sea and air)
• Solid knowledge of over-border freight operations
• Basic understanding of domestic freight and warehousing
• Strong negotiation skills and proven ability to secure competitive freight rates
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to lead, influence, and collaborate
• Confident, solutions-driven, and a strong team player
• Willingness to travel as required
• Self-starter who can take ownership of both operations and business development
