Bridge CAD Draughtsman

The ideal candidate is well-equipped to prepare and manage the company's bridge CAD drawings throughout the full spectrum of the project phases. It is a requirement that the candidate possesses sound knowledge of the South African bridge and roads industry (e.g., standard/typical details, client specific processes and preferences) and has completed various bridge and major culvert structures. The Position of Employment will require the appointed person to be based in the Cape Town office to train and supervise young draughtspersons.

Minimum Skills, Responsibilities and Experience include:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD,
• Resourceful preparation of bridge drawings as per the relevant client preference,
• Good understanding of coordinate systems, annotations scales and CAD blocks in drawings,
• Competent in the use of MS Excel and the linking of drawings with AutoCAD,
• Good organisational and communication skills,
• Critically self-evaluate drawing work,
• An intuition for practical solutions and for visualising problems,
• Develop and maintain the company's SA’s plot styles and drawing standards,
• Coordinate bridge drawings between Bridge and Roads departments,
• Mentor and supervise young draughtspersons,
• Experience with SANRAL, Western Cape Government or other Clients,
• Experience with reinforcement detailing (e.g., ProBar (AutoPadds), AddoBar),
• Experience with quality management systems,
• Experience in construction sites and inspections.
