Business Analyst

SUMMARY:
Main purpose of the Business Analyst is to work with stakeholders to understand and define their business needs and extract the requirements for what must be delivered. The Business Analyst gathers the business required conditions and capabilities, documenting them in a consistent, complete and useful way for the team that will design and deliver the solution.

POSITION INFO:

RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES

- Articulate and do physical write up of features in defined format i.e. stories for features, specifications for new modules/products.

- Ensure items on the backlog are aligned with client/partner expectation on ultimate functionality.

- Collaborate with partner representatives on aligning product with supporting methodologies.

- Develop and plan the product program, ensure alignment to release schedule, groom the roadmap backlog and maintenance backlog and represent client through the roadmap backlog.

- Provide perspective on if/how feature requests would fit into the overall product.

- Guide the team on the appropriate use of user experience standards.

- Support the development and testing of all items in the sprint.

- Ensure artefacts are kept up to date e.g. JIRA comments.

- Escalate own and team delivery risks to Engineering Manager.

- Aware of hot fix requests for features coming in via support channel.

- Prepare for and attend relevant ceremonies, providing input on agenda.

- Guide the team in delivering within the parameters of agile.

- Provide guidance on how to apply the defined user experience standards.

- Provide guidance on the best way to incorporate enhancements in the product design.

- Up to date with industry best practice and incorporate in product feature/user experience design.

- Clearly articulate and communicate expected behaviour including look and feel to development and testing teams.

- Ensure consistency throughout the product suite and highlight anomalies.

- Test adoption of changes to the product by ways of user surveys (through Client Lead).

- Highlight oversight of areas within the product during regression cycles, areas with recurring regression and suggest changes on how testing can be used to close the gaps.

- Highlight gaps identified in types of testing such as performance or load.

- Ensure continuous improvement i.e. suggest changes to existing process and propose the implementation of new processes for enhancing delivery.

- Familiar with the content of the release notes.

- Highlight gaps identified to Client Lead in order to adjust and close these.

- Assist in the articulation of new features e.g. providing practical use cases.

- Assist the Client Lead in implementing onboarding tools e.g. Chameleon.

- Provide input/content where appropriate for Help Manual and training videos.

- Familiar with published policies and procedures and notify security team of potential breaches as per the agreed process.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- 4 year(s) experience working as a Business Analyst in a technology environment.

- Understanding of technology; Language and Applications; UI, QA is an additional bonus.

- Proven ability to define a set of requirements that pinpoint business challenges and identify technical and business changes required to address them.

- Excellent Industry and/or application domain knowledge and ability to understand the big picture.

- Experienced in customer interactions.

- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.

- Negotiation skills with ability to compromise and balance trade-offs among multiple interests.

- Proven leadership and decision making.

- Professional presentation skills.

- Familiar with Agile and Scrum principles and practices.
