OUR BLUE CHIP CLIENT WHO OPERATES IN THE FINANCIAL, INSURANCE & HEALTHCARE WELLNESS SPACE FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES; IS CURRENTLY LOOKING TO EMPLOY A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT (Representative).

THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED IN CAPE TOWN.

Purpose of the position:

  • Business Development Consultants are committed, driven, results oriented advisers who are able to work on their own as well as in a team environment writing business in accordance with targets laid down by the company. We are looking for a new Business Development Consultant to grow our client base (high-net worth individuals) and advise primarily on motor and household domestic insurance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • FAIS Credits (min 30 credits in short term insurance if date of first appointment is before 2010); or if date of first appointment is on or after 01/01/2010, a full recognised qualification as per the FSCA qualification list
  • FAIS Regulatory examination for Representatives (RE5)
  • If you are registered for one Class of Business (Personal or Commercial) you are required to have 12 CPD (continuous professional development) points. If you registered for two Classes of Business (Personal plus Commercial), you required to have 18 CPD points.
  • 2 - 3 years'' experience in selling short term insurance either as a broker agent or tied agent, alternatively must have solid sales experience.
  • Proven sales track record
  • Candidate must have his own transport (CAR) and license

Responsibilities:

  • Source sufficient lead generating opportunities to ensure 10 client quotes per week and 40 per month minimum
  • Minimum requirement of 9 written policies per month
  • Maintain and update your Lead Generation Matrix on a weekly basis
  • Manage the lead generation process which includes group presentations, one on one consultations, ensuring regular communication with staff, participation in corporate events, advertising and general relationship building
  • Once a quote is requested the consultant must contact the client in order to conduct a proper needs analysis and offer professional advice
  • Keep up to date and fully informed on product comparisons with opposition products
  • Stay abreast of the company product changes and enhancements
  • Sign up a minimum of 5 active lead referral agents
  • Generate interest for and introduce other company specialists to prospects where appropriate
  • Meet all KPl''s as laid down by the company for BDCs
  • Complete weekly reports that reflect leads, quotes and sales as well as the source of the leads, average premium, total premium and any other pertinent information which may be required from time to time
  • Be compliant in all activities in accordance with regulations and standards of all Insurance regulations and professional guidelines and ethics
  • Maintain appropriate skills and knowledge in order to provide specialist, professional advice in all relevant business areas
  • Meet the Fit and proper requirements as set out in the FAIS codes of conduct at all times
  • Meet continuing professional development objectives as required by the industry
