Business Development Manager (Multimodal Freight Forwarding Sales)

Our client in the Freight Forwarding Industry is urgently looking to employ a multimodal Business Development Manager at their organization.

POSITION INFO:
Location: Century City, Cape Town Job summary In this role, you will be responsible for driving business growth by acquiring and developing new customers, managing strategic sales opportunities across air and sea freight services, and building strong relationships with clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in freight forwarding sales, strong commercial acumen, and the motivation to deliver outstanding results. Requirements: Matric (essential), Freight forwarding or logistics qualification (advantageous) Minimum 5 years' proven experience in freight forwarding sales (sea + air essential) Strong understanding of Incoterms, global trade, and logistics processes Ability to hunt, close, and retain key accounts. Confident communicator with a commercial mindset. Existing client relationships will be highly advantageous. Proficiency in freight forwarding systems and MS Office. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Generate sales leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events. Qualify leads and assess their potential to become customers. Maintain a pipeline of sales opportunities and track progress in CRM systems. Develop and execute sales strategies to acquire new customers and expand the customer base. Build and maintain relationships with existing customers to identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs. Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations to prospective customers, showcasing the value proposition and benefits of all our product services. Customize sales proposals and quotations based on customer requirements and market conditions. Negotiate pricing and contract terms with customers to secure profitable business agreements. Ensure compliance with pricing guidelines and company policies. Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews to deepen relationships and identify opportunities for customer satisfaction improvement. Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and customer service, to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction. Prepare sales reports and provide insights and recommendations to enhance sales performance. Update new customer operational SOP and upload same to Focus.
