Business Development Specialist

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leader in the polymer manufacturing industry, is looking for a Business Development Specialist to join their team based in Bryanston.

POSITION INFO:

This is NOT a Sales role. 

The client wants someone who ideally has an understanding of Liquid packaging/ converting 1 form of material into Plastic materials, i.e. glass packaging to plastics. This person will be required to come with game-changing ideas and implementations for the industry. Develop technology sustainable projects within the field and market. Fresh thinking and innovative. Hit the ground running and make an impact with fresh and innovative ideas.  Someone who will be able to create technical change and advancements as a game-changer to the industry. Technical and Project Management, not Sales. Capable of Creating value for business through innovation and technical game-changing ideas for market. HIGH-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE)

Responsibilities: 

Value Creation

• Identify, quantify and lead projects with a focus on inter-polymer substitution and/or other packaging materials
• Develop a project pipeline for business development focused on packaging innovation
• Identify and lead projects regarding future trends and the applicability locally in the packaging value chain
• Innovation, Initiative and Market Value Chain Focus development
• Stay abreast of global development in disruptive packaging trends and implementation
• Advise on environmental and carbon footprint changes related to packaging trends
• Interaction with Brand Owners, Retailers, packaging, and filling partners throughout the value chain
• Understand and dissect the polymer value chain in-depth in order to identify value-creating projects including the threat on single-use plastics and refillable packaging
• Review with Product Responsible Persons grade promotion/cancellations and advise engineers on possible sustainable options for improved cost/performance product introductions into the marketplace.
• Exchange information on new product options developed with global utility potential.
• Assist the R&D team and the business with technical expertise and information/activities in the value chain.

Customer preferred partner

• Participate in identifying sustainability projects at customers in close cooperation with Sales, R&D and Manufacturing.

Minimum Experience: 

• Packaging Value Chain development and optimization
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Business Sustainability Project development and Implementation
• Advanced Project management experience
• Experience in Polymer Value Chain optimization will be beneficial

Qualification Required: 

• BSc Engineering degree or Polymer Chemistry or equivalent (a relevant post-grad degree is preferred)
