We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Purchaser to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end purchasing, supplier performance, shortages, and planning within an ERP-driven environment.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Purchaser to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end purchasing, supplier performance, shortages, and planning within an ERP-driven environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Purchasing & Procurement Review deficiency lists and forecasts to determine purchasing needs. Create, send and confirm purchase orders. Conduct RFQs (supplier part numbers, cost, MOQ, lead time, quotation validity). Ensure all purchases are placed with approved suppliers and according to valid costing. Manage part changes, including alternatives and new wholesalers (with engineering sign-off). Plan part deliveries per project and ensure ERP data accuracy. Supplier Management Manage and maintain relationships with the top 10 suppliers. Weekly monitoring of supplier delivery performance (including top worst). Monthly quality checks relating to deliveries, including NCR reviews. Conduct monthly supplier evaluations. Check performance reports and ensure corrective actions when needed. Order & Shortage Management Track and follow up on all open purchase orders. Review outstanding orders using Open PO Reports. Manage shortages across: Floor shortages (Stores Admin) Kitting shortages (Stores Admin) ERP shortages (late supply, short supply, unplanned demand) Work closely with stores and planning to prevent and resolve shortages. Stores & Stock Coordination Assist with missing stock investigations and ensure effective resolution. Maintain alignment between purchasing, stores, and planning teams. Reporting & ERP Work daily within the ERP system for purchasing, planning data, and shortages. Compile weekly and monthly reports related to supplier performance, quality issues, NCRs, and shortages. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Matric \/ Grade 12. Minimum 2-3 years experience in Purchasing and Logistics. Strong understanding of supply chain workflows. Experience working with ERP systems. Strong administrative and follow-up skills. Computer literacy (MS Office, Excel essential). KEY PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and planning skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills. Professional, proactive, and results-driven attitude. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments. Technical understanding of parts, BOMs, and engineering changes. Supplier performance management experience. Knowledge of NCR processes and quality-related investigations. Advanced Excel skills.
