JOB PURPOSE

The key account manager is responsible for handling the important customer accounts in a company. These accounts make up the highest percentage of company income, and the key account manager must build and maintain a strong relationship with the customer. They will be the lead point of contact for all key customer matters, anticipate the customer’s needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for the customer are met, and help the customer succeed. The key account manager will also bring in new business from existing customers or contacts and will develop new relationships with potential customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOBS

  • Maintaining a solid and trusting relationship between major customers and the company
  • Developing a complete understanding of customers’ expectations and way of operating
  • Managing communications between the customer and internal teams and resolving customer issues and complaints
  • Understand and update CBD (cost breakdowns) as per customer request
  • Manage the customer portals and have the know-how of how the portals function
  • Strategic planning to improve company results:
  • Understanding the product costing to achieve best margins
  • Monitoring, improving and defending part margins
  • Negotiate price increases
  • Negotiate price reductions with raw material and sub-component suppliers
  • Negotiate LTR’S with all suppliers (minimum of 5 reductions per year)
  • Negotiate agreed LTR’s by monitoring the customer volumes and price movements
  • When applicable; taking project spend and tool financing into consideration, negotiate the best outcome on tooling pricing/contracts on new business/EC (CFT)
  • Monitor, understand the company’s machine capacity models and find ways of filling machine capacities strategically
  • Negotiating contracts (terms and conditions that are suited for Ebor) with the customer
  • Develop and introduce processes if required
  • Planning and presenting reports on account progress, goals and initiatives
  • Completing monthly QAS reports
  • Progress reports of new and ongoing RFQ’s followed by action plan
  • Capacity reports combined with potential business overview for planning purposes
  • Tracking of EC (engineering requests); overview of toolmaker costs verses what was submitted to the customer
  • Driving the innovation process and selecting of new product developments suitable for the company expansion and vision
  • Expanding relationships and bringing in new customers/business

REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification (diploma / degree) in purchasing or finance field.
  • Automotive experience
  • Technical knowledge (basic)
  • Negotiation skills
  • Budget setting and control knowledge and understanding
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Eager to to expand the company with new sales, customers, and territories.
  • Marketing qualifications an advantage
  • Injection molding knowledge an advantage
