POSITION INFO:

Role Purpose
Established corporate advisory firm is urgently seeking a strong, high-calibre Group Financial Manager to act as the custodian of the entire finance function across multiple operating entities. The role is hands-on, commercially focused, and requires oversight of finance operations, end to end across a diversified group with activities in professional services, construction & civils and engineering consulting.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity, robust controls, accurate reporting, and meaningful commercial insights, while leading and developing a small finance team across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Group Financial Management
- Take full ownership of the group finance function across all subsidiaries.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting at entity and group level.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and supporting commentary.
- Oversee group consolidations, intercompany accounting, and eliminations.
Financial Control & Compliance
- Act as custodian of all financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation (VAT, income tax, PAYE), and statutory requirements, with support from advisors where applicable.
- Manage and coordinate year-end audit processes, including engagement with external auditors.
Budgets and Forecasting
- Own the end‑to‑end budgeting and forecasting process across the group, including regular forecasting and variance analysis against actual performance.
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Manage group cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital.
- Manage and advise on group treasury investments.
- Provide proactive oversight of debtors, creditors, and cash optimisation.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance support team
- Set clear responsibilities, workflows, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and financial efficiency across the group.
- Participate in board or management meetings as required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- CA(SA) designation (essential).
Experience
- 3–6 years post-articles experience, ideally within:
- Exposure to multiple legal entities and group reporting.
Technical Competence
- Solid grounding in financial reporting, consolidations, and IFRS principles.
- Strong understanding of relevant tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of management accounting and commercial finance.
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves in a hands-on role where needed.
