JOB SUMMARY:
A pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Cost & Management Accountant to record, store and analyze costs in a manufacturing environment. You will review services and goods and make financially feasible recommendations, and be responsible for inventory control focusing on continuous, accurate updating of the inventory on accounting system.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Financial Accountant/Financial Manager
Develop both internal (management & employees) and external relationships (suppliers, industry leaders & key stakeholders)

Key duties include:

Cost Accounting
- Collects and studies data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labour
- Analyses the data collected and records cost information for use in controlling expenditures
- Analyses and records any changes in methods, raw materials or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Assists in the month end close of the General Ledger and in audit preparation
- Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
- Reconciles finished goods inventories
- Remains acutely aware of market trends that could impact resource costs
- Collaborates with department heads to strategize ways to minimize waste
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the interdependency of cost drivers
- Understands the entire arc of the business and how productivity impacts profitability
- Conducts physical inventory spot checks to ensure consistency between accounting software and actual stock
- Overseas monthly stock counts
- Reports and budgets
  - Evaluates manufacturing costs and prepares regular reports comparing standard predicted costs to actual production costs
  - Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
  - Makes estimates of new and proposed product costs
  - Assists in planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the manufacturing budget
  - Assists management with building an annual manufacturing budget for the company
  - Monthly inventory reports
  - Key Vendor & Service Provider Relationships
    - Analyses invoices to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost
    - Assesses all incoming products, resources, and services to ensure the best price

Essentials to be considered for this role:

Bachelor’s degree/diploma in finance or relevant field strongly preferred
3-4 years’ experience as a Cost Accountant in a Manufacturing environment and Inventory Control experiencedly
Must have a strong Cost systems background and a sound understanding of accounting principles
Sound conceptual understanding of standard costing and absorption costing in a manufacturing environment
Excellent Excel skills - proficient in creating formulas, drawing graphs analysing data, creating Pivot Charts, VLookup and Pastel Evolution experience a must
