About the YES Initiative
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

Stipend: R8 400.00

About the Role
The Candidate Attorney provides professional legal support while completing articles of clerkship in terms of the Legal Practice Act. The role is aimed at developing legal competence through practical training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in various aspects of law.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft legal opinions, memoranda, and reports.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist with trial preparation, discovery, and compilation of court bundles.
• Attend court proceedings, mediations, and consultations with clients and counsel.
• File and serve court documents, and liaise with sheriffs and other service providers.
• Maintain and update client files, ensuring compliance with legal and firm standards.
• Participate in client consultations and provide feedback to the supervising attorney.
• Attend internal training, mentorship sessions, and professional development activities

• Reports directly to the Principal Attorney / Supervisor.
• Accountable for accuracy, confidentiality, and timely delivery of assigned tasks.

• South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
• Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
• Matric
• Degree/Diploma in Law
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication skills.
