Capacity Analyst Manager

SUMMARY:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of Capacity Management is to ensure that the organization has at all times, sufficient resources to deliver the business workload. It is concerned with having the appropriate IT capacity and making best use of it. Capacity Management needs to understand the business requirements (the required Service Delivery), the organization's operation (the current Service Delivery) and the IT Infrastructure (the means of Service Delivery), and ensure that all the current and future Capacity and performance aspects of the business requirements are provided cost-effectively.
 

POSITION INFO:
EXPERIENCE:

• At least 4 to 5 years Capacity Management experience (Essential)
• Proven record of accomplishment of at least 5 years' experience in the IT industry
• Previous experience in Capacity Planning and Reporting solutions is crucial
• Being able to translate business needs into technology solutions
• Proven ability to understand the dynamics of technology
• Experience in Mainframe and Open Systems

• Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or related field
• An M+3 Qualification would be an advantage
• ITIL Foundation Qualification an advantage

• Ensures that appropriate levels of monitoring of resource capacity and system performance are executed, and that the information recorded in a CBD is kept up-to-date and used by all parts of the Capacity Management process.
• Provides regular management reports, which include current usage of resources, trends and forecasts.
• Contributes to reports on performance against targets contained in SLA’s.
• Maintains a knowledge of future demand for IT resources and associated SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and predicts the effects of demand on performance service levels.
• Determines when system resources should be tuned and makes recommendations to IT management on the design and use of system resources to optimize their use.
• Provides resolution recommendations to performance-related Incidents and Problems
• Ensures that there is sufficient capacity to meet service level targets.
• Provides capacity requirements for new or modified IT services.
• Maintains an overall understanding of current service capacity and trends.
• Produces and maintains a Capacity Plan
• Assesses the capacity impact of new change requests, Problems and Incidents.
• Participates on the Change Advisory Board as needed
