Our client, a well-established organisation within the mineral processing industry, is seeking a motivated and technically driven Junior Chemical Engineer to join their engineering team.
POSITION INFO:
The successful candidate will support mineral-processing operations by assisting with process monitoring, optimisation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives . This is an excellent opportunity for a junior engineer looking to develop practical experience within a plant environment and build a career in mineral processing and process engineering. Key Responsibilities Assist with the monitoring and optimisation of mineral-processing plant operations. Analyse plant and process data to identify performance trends, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. Support process troubleshooting and root-cause investigations. Assist with improving plant recovery, throughput, efficiency and product quality. Monitor key process parameters and recommend corrective actions where required. Participate in plant trials, test work, sampling and process evaluations. Assist with mass and energy balances and interpretation of process data. Support process design, equipment selection and engineering calculations. Assist with the preparation and review of process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs and technical documentation. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Laboratory and Engineering teams to resolve plant-related challenges. Participate in continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives. Assist with technical projects, plant modifications, commissioning and implementation of process improvements. Support investigations into equipment and process failures. Prepare technical reports, presentations and recommendations. Ensure engineering activities are conducted in accordance with company health, safety, quality and environmental standards. Maintain accurate engineering and process records. Minimum Requirements BEng\/BSc Chemical Engineering or equivalent recognised engineering qualification. 0-3 years' relevant experience in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mining or a related industrial\/process environment. Graduate engineers with relevant vacation work, internship, practical training or mineral-processing exposure are encouraged to apply. Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including mass and energy balances, fluid flow, heat transfer and process control. An interest in developing a career within mineral processing and plant operations. Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and other relevant engineering applications. Valid driver's licence would be advantageous.
