Chief Executive Officer

SUMMARY:
An affiliated organisation based in the eastern region of Johannesburg is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

This individual will be responsible for performing the duties of the Accounting Officer, reporting to the Governing Council, developing and implementing the approved organisational strategy through annual performance plans, overseeing the day-to-day management and compliance of the organisation’s resources, ensuring organisational stability in delivering on its mandate, and serving as the chief spokesperson of the organisation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Strategy and Organisational Leadership

• Ensure the organisation delivers on its mandate.
• Develop and implement long-term organisational strategy and annual performance plans.
• Ensure optimal organisational development, effectiveness, and high performance.

Compliance, Governance and Financial Management

• Ensure organisational compliance with legal, financial, audit, and policy requirements.
• Fulfil statutory roles under POPIA, the OHS Act (16.1), the EPA Act, and SARS requirements as Public Officer.
• Develop long-term financial and investment plans aligned to organisational strategy.
• Oversee budgeting, cash flow, investment planning, and financial sustainability.
• Produce annual reports and annual financial statements.

Stakeholder Relations and Representation

• Manage relationships with the Council for the Built Environment (CBE), voluntary associations, industry bodies, academic institutions, and international stakeholders.
• Serve as a key liaison for sector-wide matters and thought leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A postgraduate qualification such as a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
• A postgraduate degree in any engineering category or discipline will be advantageous.
• Registered Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist.
• Minimum of 15 years’ senior management experience, including at least 5 years at Executive level.
• Regulatory or built environment experience will be advantageous.
• Proven experience in strategy development, operations management, resource management, and reporting to Council or Board structures.
