A proudly South African manufacturing group with a 20-year legacy of quality craftsmanship and growth is looking for a hands-on, people-centered Chief Financial Officer to join their executive leadership team.
You'll play a pivotal role in steering financial strategy, strengthening controls, and developing a capable finance team within a privately owned, multi-entity business that's evolving into its next phase of expansion and cultural transformation.
The Opportunity
As CFO, you'll partner closely with the CEO, COO, and EXCO to lead all aspects of financial management, reporting, and governance. You'll provide strategic direction while remaining deeply engaged in day-to-day operations, bringing insight, rigor, and strong people leadership to a finance function of around ten staff. This is a broad and influential role suited to someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced manufacturing environment and values long-term stability, team development, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full finance function across several entities, driving accuracy, transparency, and accountability
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and management reporting to support sound business decisions
- Strengthen internal controls, systems, and risk frameworks across manufacturing and distribution operations
- Partner with EXCO and operational teams to interpret financial data and drive performance improvement
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, and statutory audit requirements
- Oversee stock management, costing, and margin analysis within a high-volume production environment
- Mentor, guide, and develop the finance team - fostering a culture of ownership, trust, and collaboration
- Support business change initiatives including ERP optimisation
What You'll Bring
- CA(SA) / CIMA or MBA or any other relevant qualification
- 8-10 years' post-qualification experience in manufacturing, production, or related sectors
- Strong leadership record with proven success managing and developing teams
- Experience in privately owned, multi-entity environments
- Hands-on operational finance skills, particularly in costing, stock, and working capital management
- Sound understanding of governance, compliance, and audit principles
- Balanced communicator with the confidence to influence at both EXCO and factory-floor level
- Strategic yet approachable, pragmatic, and collaborative in style
