We are seeking an accomplished Chief Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex mechanical systems within our defence programmes. This is a senior role suited to an engineer with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and proven experience delivering high-reliability products in regulated environments.

We are seeking an accomplished Chief Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex mechanical systems within our defence programmes. This is a senior role suited to an engineer with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and proven experience delivering high-reliability products in regulated environments.
You will lead mechanical design strategy, mentor engineering teams, and act as the mechanical authority across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and governance for all mechanical engineering activities
Own mechanical architecture and design decisions for complex defence systems
Lead and review detailed mechanical designs, analyses, and design documentation
Ensure compliance with defence standards, quality processes, and regulatory requirements
Mentor and develop mechanical engineering teams
Drive best practices in design, verification, and validation
Interface with systems, electrical, RF, manufacturing, and programme teams
Support customer, supplier, and stakeholder technical engagements

Required Qualifications & Experience

10+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering roles
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Defence industry experience strongly preferred
Proven experience leading mechanical design on complex, safety- or mission-critical products
Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical design principles and materials
- Manufacturing processes and production readiness
- Environmental qualification (vibration, thermal, shock)
Experience working within structured engineering lifecycles and configuration control
