SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and strategic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join a leading organisation in the mining sector. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in mining operations and senior leadership, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and business growth in both open-pit and underground mining environments.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and operational leadership across all mining sites and functions.
Drive the execution of business objectives, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall vision.
Oversee project design, planning and implementation from concept to completion.
Ensure effective operational performance through the implementation of efficient systems and processes.
Maintain compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
Lead and manage a team of senior managers and site leadership to ensure optimal productivity and stakeholder engagement.
Collaborate closely with executive leadership on business strategy, budgets, and resource allocation.

Minimum Requirements:

Completed qualification in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
10–15 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years at a senior management or executive level.
Strong background in both open-pit and underground mining operations.
Demonstrated experience in project planning, design, and execution.
Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
Strong commercial acumen and experience in managing budgets and KPIs.
Solid understanding of SHEQ principles and compliance within mining operations.

Preferred Attributes:

Advanced business qualification (MBA or similar) is advantageous.
Proven ability to lead in complex and dynamic environments.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
