Specific duties will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Responsible for the initial setup and ongoing maintenance of systems and networks to support DataGr8 and commercial clients.
- Core and edge router/switch configuration for both layer 2 and layer 3 customers (Cisco, Calix, Edge-core, Dell)
- Firewall Setup, monitoring and maintenance
- Customer router configuration
- Commercial ISP support
- New fibre rollouts, planning, budgeting, ordering and configuring
- Documenting all configuration, backups of configuration, network diagrams
- Ensuring that network infrastructure is kept up to date and as per standard across the organisation
- Handover documentation
- Change control for new hardware / configuration
- Telephonic and email support
- Monitoring network outages, reacting fast to minimise downtime
- Escalation Management and Fault management
Qualifications:
- Cisco CCNA and or Cisco CCNP (Preferred)
- LFCS, Linux+ or equivalent (Required)
- MCSA: Windows Server 2016 (Minimum recommended not compulsory) or MSCA: Core Infrastructure (Preferred not compulsory)
Experience and knowledge:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- ISP or telecommunications background
- Layer 2 protocols such as Vlans
- IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting
- Routing protocols, Expert knowledge of OSPF, BGP, MPLS (6PE,6VPE, VPNv4), RSVP, LACP, LDP, Cisco IOS, IOS XR, IOS XE.
- Routing filters
- Tunnelling, e.g. EOIP / PPTP etc
- Expert knowledge of Cisco Routers and switches such as ASR9000
- Zabbix knowledge an advantage
- Experience with brands such as Dell, Ubiquiti, Calix (An advantage)
- Peering relationships
- New technologies and keeping up to date

Working Hours
- Typical working hours are Monday to Friday from 08h00 - 17h00, however, due to the nature of the position you will be required to be on call on a rotational basis.
