Civil Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client in Centurion is looking for an In-House Civil Engineer to support the design, regulatory compliance, and erection of outdoor advertising billboards. The successful candidate will be responsible for site assessments, structural design, regulatory approvals, and construction oversight to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective installations.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments considering soil stability, topography, drainage, and geotechnical factors.
• Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to optimize billboard placement for visibility while ensuring structural feasibility.
• Review zoning, utility lines, and other site-specific considerations to mitigate risks.

• Develop structural plans for billboard foundations, support columns, framing, and signage panels.
• Perform load calculations accounting for static and dynamic forces such as wind.
• Ensure foundation designs meet safety and durability standards.

• Prepare engineering drawings and calculations for municipal approvals.
• Navigate local bylaws and engage with authorities, including SANRAL and the Department of Environmental Affairs, for site-specific approvals.
• Ensure compliance with SAMOAC and other outdoor advertising regulations.

• Supervise contractors during billboard erection to ensure proper construction practices.
• Monitor foundation pouring, assembly, and installation for structural integrity.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to maintain schedules and quality standards.
