Lead complex, high-impact civil infrastructure projects across South Africa.

POSITION INFO:

An established multi-disciplinary engineering environment is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its team based in Durban or Johannesburg. This role is suited to a seasoned design-led professional who thrives on technical ownership, project leadership, and delivering infrastructure projects from concept through to full ECSA stages.

While the role is office-based in Durban or Johannesburg, you must be willing and able to travel to project sites across South Africa as required. All business-related travel and accommodation will be covered by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, planning, and management of civil engineering projects, including roads, stormwater, earthworks, water reticulation, and sewer infrastructure
Take full technical ownership of projects, ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and compliant design solutions
Manage project budgets, timelines, resources, and risk
Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, tender documentation, and contractual deliverables
Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and technologists
Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across all project phases

Minimum Requirements (NonâNegotiable):

Qualification: BSc Eng, BEng, or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience: Minimum 10 years’ postâgraduate civil engineering experience
Professional Registration:
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
- Minimum 5 years’ postâprofessional registration experience
Technical Capability: Proficient in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Prokon, or similar
Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally as project requirements dictate (company-covered)
Licence: Valid South African driver’s licence
