About the YES Initiative

The President launched the initiative in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labor department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

Position: Client Onboarding & Administration Intern

Stipend: R5500

Location: Gauteng (sunnighill)

POSITION INFO:
About the role The successful candidate will assist with onboarding new clients, managing administrative tasks, contacting clients by phone and email, providing updates, and supporting the team with day-to-day client service and office administration. Bookkeeping or finance knowledge will be considered a bonus, as our clients are primarily based in Australia. Responsibilities: Assist with onboarding new clients, including collecting information, documents, forms, and identification where required. Set up and maintain accurate client records, checklists, files, and internal system updates. Contact clients by phone and email to request information, follow up on outstanding items, and provide progress updates. Communicate professionally with Australian clients and ensure clear, accurate, and timely responses. Support the accounting team with general administration, document organisation, data entry, and workflow tracking. Book appointments, coordinate meetings, manage calendars, and assist with client follow-ups where required. Help monitor deadlines and ensure client information is received in a timely manner. Assist with basic bookkeeping, finance, or accounts administration tasks where appropriate and under guidance. Contribute to improving internal processes, client communication, and administrative workflows. Take on additional responsibilities as the business grows and as skills develop during the internship. Minimum Requirements South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34. Must not have participated on the YES programme before. Matric. Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Confidence speaking with clients over the phone in a professional and friendly manner. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately. High attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures carefully. Good computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, document management, and cloud-based systems. Professional presentation, positive attitude, and strong work ethic. Ability to work from the office, collaborate with the team, and learn in a professional environment. Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to take feedback and improve. Desirable Skills Bookkeeping, finance, accounting, or accounts administration knowledge. Previous experience in an accounting firm, professional services business, or office administration role. Basic understanding of GST, BAS, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bank reconciliations.
