Global Manufacturing concern is seeking the expertise of a dynamic and astute Commercial Director to join their dynamic and further expanding team.

Champion and focus the South Africa team on optimising functional/‘indirect’ interfaces especially with the Regional heads in Sales, Marketing, & Technical functions in Asia Pacific.

This position involves decision making in all aspects of General Management within the region and it interfaces with customers, marketing, operations, corporate and technical management with regard to sales strategies and tactics, marketing programs, business plans and technical service requests

One would describe you as change-driver, an influencer at all level, one who has a hands-on leadership style, strong negotiation and business acumen skills accompanied by a true entrepreneurial spirit!

 

Purpose of the position:

  • To meet or exceed annual business targets in SA
  • Develop, plan and implement the commercial strategy and business plan for the specified geographic region
  • Cultivate customer base and new customers including the generation of sales forecasts and sales & marketing strategies in coordination with budget targets & marketing & business directives
  • Regular interface and management of all departments in the South Africa organisation, on a prioritized basis, to ensure they are achieving set targets and aligning to the overall business strategy for the region
  • To develop, maintain and grow the necessary relationships with existing and potential new customers consistent with achieving these objectives
  • Identify profitable growth drivers (i.e. product, customer, and channels) to ensure the business has a profitable growth trajectory
  • Regular interface with regional and global Marketing and Technical Managers on a prioritized basis to address strategic and tactical issues

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • MBA | Related Degree or higher Business and/or Science qualification along with minimum 15 years sales and/or product management experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of this experience gained in the coatings and composites / chemical / manufacturing market would be required
  • 7-10 Years proven senior leadership experience
  • Proven exposure with deal closure in Africa
  • Demonstrable strong sales and business to business development track record
  • Proven finance, analytic and problem-solving skills and experience to drive focused analysis and understand and interpret various financial reports
  • High level of integrity and trust must be able to deal with critical business and commercial in confidence data.
  • Requires comfort with domestic and international travel

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate with all functions in preparation of site budget plan each year
  • Maintain and expand sales and Weighted Average Selling Price to new and existing customers
  • Drive targeted price increase in timely manner
  • Conduct regular management meetings to review department performance, drive course correction to meet budget targets and implement initiatives to build operation efficiencies
  • Prepare and share with the team each month on the site performance report covering Sales, Manufacturing Operation, Purchase, Technology, Colour Support, Accounts, HR, statutory compliance & general admin activities.
  • Focus on major customers to ensure no loss of sales, prompt and efficient follow up from regular reviews
  • Secure existing business by identifying the need for agreements and contracts where possible and appropriate
  • Gather, collate/analyse and provide market intelligence to the relevant marketing and business personnel
  • Develop business relationships network within customer organizations with multiple departmental personnel and functions
  • Position and promote new product lines as directed by Marketing & referenced in the product portfolio charts for the specified region
  • Any other project or task, as directed by the company or your manager
