Commercial Manager - Credit (AFCL)

POSITION INFO:
Our client is a respected in-house finance provider operating in the asset and vehicle finance space. The business supports sales by offering tailored finance solutions while maintaining strong credit governance and portfolio quality.

This role sits at a senior management level within the credit function and plays a critical part in approving complex credit proposals, shaping credit policy, and overseeing both credit risk and collections. The successful candidate will lead and develop specialist teams while partnering closely with senior stakeholders.

• Review and approve commercial credit proposals, ensuring an appropriate balance between profitability and risk exposure
• Lead and mentor credit and collections teams to maintain strong credit quality across the portfolio
• Develop, review, and implement credit policies, guidelines, and approval frameworks
• Oversee debt recovery strategies, including managing high-risk and escalated accounts
• Monitor credit granting processes, conduct periodic reviews, and assess customer creditworthiness
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and governance requirements, including monthly reporting and management information
• Measure and manage departmental performance using relevant credit and risk metrics

• Education:
  • Degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification advantageous but not essential
• Experience:
  • Senior-level experience in credit risk and collections management
  • Proven leadership experience managing credit and/or collections teams
  • Exposure to retail, asset, or vehicle finance environments
  • Strong credit approval and portfolio management experience
• Skills:
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capability
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills
  • Sound understanding of credit risk frameworks and governance
  • Proficient in standard financial and reporting systems
• Other Requirements:
  • Comfortable operating in a commercially driven environment
  • Able to make firm, well-reasoned credit decisions under pressure
