POSITION INFO:

COMMERCIAL/OPERATIONS MANAGER / CAPE TOWN - Our client in the Courier Service Industry in Cape Town is looking for a Commercial Manager to manage the day-to-day Operations. Extensive experience in the Courier Industry is crucial for this role.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 Minimum

Relevant Operational/Logistics experience

Extensive knowledge of the Courier industry

Experience with Budgets and maintenance thereof

Experience with Parcel Perfect Software

Strategic Management/Leadership/Problem Solving and Time Management skills

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Day to day operations

To lead, drive and exceed profitable growth – ensuring sales targets are aligned to the company’s strategy

Analysing sales performance; daily and weekly review meetings - ensuring that the team is focused and driven - Emphasis to be placed on increase of Sales and Sales Target

Lead role in sales ensuring the promise on budget is delivered

Assessing profitability and opportunities

Assuming a lead role in solving commercial issues that may arise

Involvement in asset management and utilization

Assisting in the completion in annual Budgets and the maintenance thereof

Monitor and measure the deliveries

Daily report to General Manager with emphasis in point form of the above

Ensure that Company Policy and procedures within the branch are adhered to

To integrate quality into the business by ensuring that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customers immediate and future needs

Prepare contingency plans in cases of operating system failure on Parcel Perfect

Manage customer relationships

Continuous dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of the Customer

Business retention – expand and further develop existing Client base

 

Operational Management

To evaluate the operating procedure planning during the process flow using Parcel Perfect

To maintain the billing system - smooth running of the billing and invoices

To ensure that all operational procedures are maintained in excellent filling order

Ensure that all inbound shipments are processed accurately and timely according to procedures and ISO.

Managing and monitoring of consignment and all deliveries are made on time every time

Ensure that checks are done according to policy and procedure

Manage the correct hand in of all outbound shipments

Ensuring that security checks are properly carried out and holding back any shipments and paperwork that cannot be properly accounted for

Processing all outbound shipments, meeting and relevant cut off times as agreed

Processing all outbound material as per Operating Procedures

Staff Management

Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff

Performance Appraisals

Developing staff by coaching and on the job training

Encouraging high levels of motivation and enthusiasm amongst staff members and handling disciplinary matter when required

 

Management of customer accounts

Compile weekly / monthly billing reports on sales accounts and the exact amount of business and potential business generated by these accounts

Providing evidence of weekly finance meetings held with the customer – if / when necessary

Follow up and conclude outstanding debtors

Security Management

Upholding strict, effective security and billing procedures

Adhoc

To assist in other departments and with other functions from time to time as the needs of the business dictate

To assist the General Manager and Regional Director when applicable with functions outside of the job description to ensure the Billing and Accounts Operation runs effectively and efficiently according to network standards required
