Purpose Of The Job:
 
To lead, manage, and develop the Commercial Vehicle Sales Department by driving sales growth across Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (Trucks). The Sales Manager is responsible for achieving volume, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives while ensuring high-performance standards across the sales team.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Sales Leadership & Management Lead and manage a team of Commercial Vehicle Sales Executives Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve departmental targets Drive sales of new LCVs and trucks Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance Manage the sales pipeline and forecast future sales volumes Ensure achievement of volume, gross profit, and market share objectives Business Development Develop fleet, corporate, government, logistics, transport, mining, and SME customer relationships Identify and pursue new business opportunities Conduct regular customer visits and fleet reviews Strengthen relationships with key fleet and transport operators Negotiate high-value commercial vehicle transactions Team Development Recruit, train, coach, and mentor sales staff Conduct regular performance reviews and development discussions Establish individual sales targets and monitor performance Drive a culture of accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement Financial Management Manage departmental profitability and expense control Monitor gross profit margins and deal structures Ensure compliance with pricing policies and manufacturer guidelines Review and approve quotations, tenders, and fleet proposals Customer Experience Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the sales process Resolve customer concerns and escalations promptly Maintain high customer satisfaction and retention levels Promote long-term relationships and repeat business Operations & Compliance Ensure accurate completion of vehicle sales documentation Maintain compliance with dealership, manufacturer, and regulatory requirements Oversee vehicle ordering, stock management, and delivery processes Ensure CRM systems and customer records are up to date Market Intelligence Monitor competitor activities and pricing Stay informed on industry trends, commercial vehicle developments, and customer requirements Implement marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 \/ Matric (Essential) Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (Advantageous) Minimum 3 years in a sales leadership or management role within a Commercial Vehicle dealership Proven experience in commercial vehicle sales, including LCVs and trucks Experience with fleet sales, tenders, and large corporate accounts Demonstrated track record of exceeding sales and profitability targets Sound knowledge of the Kerridge system Valid driver's licence Ability to drive and demonstrate commercial vehicles Willingness to travel for customer visits and business development Ability to work weekends, promotions, and trade events when required Skills & Competencies: Leadership Strong people management and coaching ability Team building and performance management skills Ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams Sales & Commercial Advanced negotiation and closing skills Fleet and key account management expertise Strategic sales planning and execution Financial and business acumen Communication Excellent communication and presentation skills Strong relationship-building capability Professional stakeholder engagement Technical Knowledge of commercial vehicle applications and specifications Kerridge dealership management systems and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Monthly and annual unit sales targets Gross profit achievement Departmental profitability Fleet and corporate account growth Market share growth Customer satisfaction index (CSI) Sales team performance and retention Lead conversion rates Stock turn and aging management Please note only candidates with the required experience will be contacted and considered.
