Compliance Officer requied to join a client based in Athlone, Western Cape

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:

Diploma in Safety Management or SAMTRAC or RISKMAQ or a recognised
Compliance Officer training
Operational experience 3-5 years
SHEQ experience 3- 5 years
ISO knowledgeable (at least one 9001, 14001 or 45001)
Have legal compliance back ground
WML license experience
Major Hazardous Installation
Air emission License
Ability to operate in high hazardous site.
Must be able to operate at a senior level, with clear, factual and a strong attention to details communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work within a SHEQ management system and at the direction of the Compliance Manager
Conduct audits and or inspections on permits/license and plant.
Ensure that monitoring and measurement program are up to date for inspection, testing and maintenance of plant and equipment.
Vet suppliers/contractors for competency prior to approval
Make application to the relevant authorities under the guidance of the compliance manager
Provide SHEQ operational compliance coverage for projects, to inform and to make relevant application for construction work in terms of the construction regulation.
To help investigate accidents, incidents & injury’s and provide root cause and containment actions.
Management of the Safety, Environmental & Quality Risk & Impact assessment programme
Make the necessary SHE appointments at the direction of the compliance manger and conduct or make the arrangements to conduct SHEQ training.
Mange the SHE committees program, committee meetings, safety reps appointments and inspection.
Conduct facility inspections for fire hazards, general hazards and infrastructure and buildings etc.
Manage the Non-conformance system and IOD, reporting, investigation & close out.
Assist sales with SHEQ requirements and tender requirements including customer, recycler plant and landfill audits
Ensure that the site activities are in line with regulatory & statuary requirements using and updating the legal register.
Ensure that permits and licenses are up to date, make new application and capture waste information into the Western Cape waste information system.
Manage the Key Success Factor (KSF) program for site improvements and projects under the compliance manager’s direction.
Continuously influence the SHEQ culture by changing the mind set of employees by providing comprehensive SHEQ inductions.
Set up Induction and orientation programs.
Always ensure and encourage sound Environmental, Safety and Health and Quality practises.
To liaise directly with the Depot and Compliance managers on sensitive matters.
Ensure that the contractor control system is established and implemented.
Control contractor’s activities through the SHE and project plan.
Obey any instruction in relations to SHEQ activities
