SUMMARY:
Are you an experienced Construction Health & Safety Officer with a strong background in electrical, HV and substation projects?
We are looking for an experienced CHSO to join a major 145kV GIS Substation Construction Project in Cape Town, commencing January 2027.

POSITION INFO:
This role requires someone who understands the unique health, safety and compliance requirements associated with power transmission, switchgear, HV testing, electrical permits, HV cable termination and feeder protection schemes . Key Responsibilities Manage and monitor contractors and subcontractors Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits Identify and assess construction hazards and risks Investigate incidents and near-misses Review and approve subcontractor Health & Safety Plans Facilitate site H&S meetings and inductions Monitor compliance with project H&S plans and client specifications Ensure emergency response and preparedness plans are in place and tested Maintain and update the project Health & Safety Management System and Plan What You'll Need 10+ years' construction experience Valid SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety Officer (CHSO) Matric N6 Electrical or an Electrical Technical Diploma SAMTRAC or NEBOSH Strong knowledge of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and Construction Regulations Proven experience with power transmission\/HV\/switchgear\/substation environments Strong reporting, communication and computer skills Contract: 8 months | January - September 2027 If you have the substation and HV construction safety experience required for this project, we'd like to hear from you.
