POSITION INFO:

RESIDENT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (PETROCHEM)

Our client is looking for a Resident Construction Manager to be based in Durban to manage the refurbishment of petrochemical tanks (API653). The position is to start mid-January 2024 and expected completion date is October 2024 (with possible additional tanks for next following years depending on budget and performance).

REQUIREMENTS:

Extensive refurbishment construction management experience in the repair of oil storage tanks in accordance with API653
Engineering degree/diploma (Mechanical or Civil) or a Construction Management degree/diploma
A minimum of 10 years’ petrochem experience post qualification

SKILLS:

Previous experience with the building/refurbishment of petrochemical storage tanks
Working on Petrochemical site and full understanding of the HSE involved
Previous construction management of multimillion-rand projects
Management of Project program and budget
Answering of technical queries regarding tank building
Review of quality control of welding on tank

DAILY ACTIVITIES TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Review and sign off of contractors QCP’s, WPS, method statements etc.
Dealing with Technical Queries on site
Monitoring of contractors progress against agreed program (MSP)
Review and sign off of daily work progress and maintenance of site diary
Review of contractors claims for extension of time and assessment against program
Expediting of the works in conjunction with the other contractors on site and the client operations team
Maintenance of overall Project Budget and cost reporting
Preparation of Site Instructions and Variation Orders as applicable
Measurement of work completed and preparation of payment certificates
Running of routine progress meetings and preparation of minutes of meetings
Inspection of the technical nature of the works as they progress
Witness and sign off of testing points in conjunction with AIA
Inspection of the completed works for snag listing
Final sign off of completion of works

REMUNERATION: Market-related (dependent on qualifications and experience)
