POSITION INFO:
Position: S.H.E Officer
Location: Port Edward, Kwa-Zulu Natal
Reports to: Project Manager
Minimum Qualifying Criteria:
- National Diploma (NQF6 or Higher) in Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
- Registered CHSO with SACPCMP – active registration is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of OHS legislation and construction safety practices.
- Proven experience as a S.H.E Officer in road construction or civil infrastructure projects.
- SANRAL project experience will be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
- Willingness to relocate for project assignments as required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans, including risk assessments and hazard identification.
- Conduct regular site inspections, identify safety risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Investigate and report on incidents and near-misses, driving root cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Compile and maintain comprehensive safety documentation and reports (including incident logs, safety stats, and compliance reports).
- Ensure ongoing compliance with OHS Act and relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with site managers, engineers, and relevant stakeholders to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
