SUMMARY:
Leading, international FMCG company is seeking to appoint a Research Manager with combined experience in consumer insights. Responsible to define and execute a Research and Consumer Insights Strategy for Southern Africa.

POSITION INFO:

KPI’s

  • Develop and execute, in consultation with brand team, short, medium and long term research & insight plans which align to the marketing strategy, inform consumer understanding and support agreed brand targets.
  • Provide support and strategic input to the Marketing Intelligence Unit responsible for research data management.
  • Provide input on consumer insight & recommendations for strategic projects and brand planning.
  • Collaborate with Global  Business Units to develop the long term brand growth strategy for South Africa
  • Identify new opportunities for research projects & methodologies to bring and maintain SA business unit at the forefront of industry
  • Participate in preparation and delivery of agency communication/campaign briefing ensuring correct and optimal usage of consumer insight and providing critical input into strategy
  • Drive consumer closeness and awareness of consumer behaviour/ needs throughout the business
  • Responsible for screening (assessing and reviewing) new research suppliers and methodologies, including global & regional preferred suppliers
  • Develop preferred agency listing for commonly utilized research methodologies
  • Annual review of agency performance & resource planning to ensure optimal service delivery and cost effectiveness
  • Assess all new methodologies from Global Business Units, implementing local viability testing where necessary to ensure local cultural & methodological compatibility
  • Global point of contact for all consumer related issues

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 3 year Degree level education
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Consumer Marketing Research/Insight position
  • Experience / exposure to a wide array of research methodologies, both Quantitative & Qualitative
  • Previous consumer research experience within FMCG sector
  • People Management & proven experience in training/ upskilling teams
