Overview:

Our client is a cultural content platform and creative media organisation that focuses on spotlighting African creativity. They are seeking an exceptional writer to create, edit, and curate short- and long-form content across digital platforms, including social media, website articles, and features, while supporting video, music, literature, and podcast initiatives.

This is a full-time position based in Johannesburg or Cape Town, with a combination of in-person and remote work.

Responsibilities:

• Write short- and long-form content
• Edit and curate content
• Conduct research and story-hunting in the field of contemporary African culture
• Commission content as required
• Work closely with the founder and team to manage projects
• Use Asana to track and manage work

Requirements:

• University degree (Honours preferable)
• At least one full-time relevant job for a minimum of two years, in writing or content curation (preferred, not essential)
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Creative and systems-oriented mindset
• Comfortable in a small, founder-led business environment
• Available full-time and based in Johannesburg or Cape Town
• Be comfortable on camera as part of content creation
